FM-TOWNS¶
Overview¶
Introduced in 1987 by Fujitsu, the FM-TOWNS was a computer system. Its platform tag is fmtowns for proper filtering.
Technical specifications¶
- CPU: Intel 80386SX running at 16 MHz with optional 486SX upgrades via expansion bus.
- Memory: 640 KB conventional RAM plus 2 MB standard RAM and 2 MB VRAM in the FM Towns base units.
- Display: Video subsystem supporting 320×240 up to 640×480 resolutions with 256 colors from 16.7 million and hardware video overlay.
- Sound: Yamaha YM2612 FM chip and Ricoh RF5C68 PCM chip delivering multi-channel stereo audio.
